Annabeth is graduating this May from Wake Forest University, with a major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and a minor in Studio Art. At Wake, Annabeth volunteers as an EMT on campus, was an RA for two years, and is a research assistant in a biophysics lab. Annabeth is planning to go to medical school following a gap year, during which she will be back in Winston-Salem to continue in her current research lab. Annabeth started swimming for Boar's Head at age 6, and continued all the way through to 18. This is her fifth summer coaching for Boar's Head and her second season as head coach! Annabeth attended Western Albemarle High School and competed for four years for the Warriors, primarily swimming 100 and 200 freestyle. Annabeth also likes to swim short free, butterfly, and any sort of relay, and she enjoys arts hobbies in her free time.
Sam is a double major at Virginia Tech studying Corporate Financial Management and Accounting. He is a member of the Virginia Tech club swim team and competed at Club Nationals in the 50 backstroke and relays. He swam for Boar’s Head for 14 years and is excited to be returning to the coaching staff this year. In his free time, Sam enjoys playing basketball, golfing, swimming, and spending time with his friends.
Nina recently graduated from the University of Virginia with a Master of Teaching in Elementary Education. In the fall, Nina will be teaching fourth grade in Albemarle County. Nina began swimming in New Jersey, until she moved to Charlottesville in 2013 and swam for the Crozet Gators. Nina attended Western Albemarle High School where she swam under Coach Dan for all four years. She was part of the two time state championship team with Coach Annabeth, primarily swimming freestyle and breaststroke. In her free time, Nina enjoys cooking, baking, and reading.
Diana is finishing her last year at St. Anne’s Belfield School and will be attending Sewanee: The University of the South this upcoming fall. At Sewanee, she will be swimming and plans to major in Business and minor in Psychology. Diana started swimming here in Charlottesville at the age of 6 and has been swimming ever since. Diana is 3 time JSL high point winner, and this summer is her third year being a part of the Boar's Head swim team. Diana swims events of all strokes, but her favorites are butterfly and breaststroke. She loves coaching all four strokes and is eager to get in the water to help our swimmers learn new things. Her hobbies are spending time with her friends and family, especially her little brother, swimming, baking, and any sorts of crafts!
Jeremiah is a Biology major at Virginia Tech, where he is actively involved in campus life as a member of an intramural soccer team and several student clubs. He began swimming at the age of four with the Jefferson Swim League and has since competed with Fairview, ACAC, the Crozet Gators, and Boar’s Head, where he concluded his final two seasons. During high school, Jeremiah swam competitively for Cavalier Aquatics and Western Albemarle High School. In addition to swimming, Jeremiah has played soccer from a young age and earned First Team All-State and All-Region honors during his senior year on the Western Albemarle varsity team. Outside of athletics, he enjoys weightlifting, playing guitar, and spending time with friends.
Eliza is finishing up her senior year at Western Albemarle High School. She will be attending Washington and Lee University in the fall where she will be on the varsity swim team specializing in butterfly. This will be her 13th season competing for the Boar's Head swim team and she is excited to join the coaching staff as well. Eliza enjoys swimming, baking, and spending time with friends.
Peyton is finishing his junior year at the Miller School of Albemarle where he plays golf and is the captain of the swim team. Peyton also swims and coaches for the club team BASS. He has been a part of the Boars Head team for 11 years and junior coached for three years. In his free time, Peyton finds himself eating, golfing, hanging out with friends, and spending time outdoors.
Richard is a finance major at Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business and a member of the Fordham men's swim team. He has been swimming competitively for years and has earned NISCA All-American honors, as well as contributing to a U.S. National Age Group record in the 400 freestyle relay. Richard coached at Boar's Head last year and enjoys helping younger swimmers improve their technique and confidence in the water. He previously swam for Boar's Head and is excited to stay involved in the sport through coaching. In his free time, Richard enjoys lifting, golfing, and spending time with his friends.
